2017 Buoncristiani Alder Springs GSMT - Garagiste Series
To share with our La Famiglia members our passion for Rhône wines and the art of blending, Winemaker and brother, Jay Buoncristiani, wanted to seek out an epic source for a Grenache - Syrah - Mourvèdre blend. In 2017 while sourcing Pinot Noir from the heralded Alder Springs Vineyard, Jay found the source high up in the Mendocino County Mountains at 2000 feet above sea level. Alder Spring’s unique blend of altitude, coastal influence, steep terrain and diverse soils makes this spot on earth a very special vineyard with ideal growing conditions for these Rhône varieties. Our Buoncristiani “GSM,T” has a twist, and that “T” is Tannat. Jay carefully selected the percentages in the field and then co-fermented the components together, drained the free run after 3 weeks on the skins with full extraction, and then barrel aged the wine in 18% New French Oak for twenty months. At the final blending table Jay folded in just 3% more Syrah to put the final signature on the wine. We are so very excited to share with you this unique blend we made for you, your family and friends to enjoy. Only 150 cases handcrafted.
